This Week’s Basket and Recipes

This week’s basket is very similar to last week’s basket. Normally there is a little more variety, but this week, Milk and Honey Organics’ owners had a special delivery of their own…a new baby boy! Ivan and Christine welcomed Tobias Stephen into the world on Tuesday at 10:30AM: 8 lbs. 14 oz., 22 in. long! Congratulations!

Quick Tips for this week’s basket:

Braeburn Apples (slice and eat with almond butter or dip in caramel)

Bananas (use on a Peanut Butter Sandwich or make Banana Splits for a sweet treat on a hot day)

Celery (the traditional “Ants on a Log” comes to mind: fill with peanut butter and top with raisins)

Bi-Color Corn (a secret to good corn on the cob is adding a Tbsp. of sugar to the boiling water; this helps pull out the natural sweetness of the corn)

Cucumbers (sliced with Ranch dressing)

Garlic (roast and spread on toast)

Sweet Vidalia Onions (great on a burger)

South Carolina White Peaches (add slices to lemonade or sweet tea for a change)

Flavorosa Pluots (use like plums; great on vanilla ice cream!)

Yukon Gold Potatoes (potato wedges; use as a thickener in soups; or make potato salad)

Mixed Baby Greens (enjoy a fresh salad or add to any sandwich)

Roma Tomatoes (Layer slices with mozzarella cheese and top with fresh basil, salt, pepper, and balsamic vinegar)
